Peugeot es una marca francesa la cuál tiene mucha historia dentro de las carreras de alto rendimiento, pero después de una importante victoria en el 2009, la misma no estuvo su nivel de siempre, por lo que después de un duro año Peugeot decide retirarse de las carreras de resistencia en el 2012 debido al coste de ellas y a sus problemas económicos.
Sin embargo Peugeot se ha recuperado año con año después de un cambio total en sus planes de mercado y en la forma en que diseñan y fabrican sus diferentes modelos, por lo que hoy en día es una marca con mucho presupuesto económico, ya con esto la marca no quiere dejar las carreras de resistencia en solo historia, sino que quiere volver.
Como mencionamos anteriormente la marca francesa quiere volver a estas carreras, pero esta vez con un hipecoche híbrido, el cual según el director técnico de la marca, Olivier Janosinnue ya cuenta con la idea de que será un vehículo híbrido, ya cuenta igual con el marco del motor, diseño y la idea aerodinámica.
Además éste tendrá un motor híbrido que llegue a generar hasta 671 caballos de fuerza, los cuales se irán directo al eje delantero, que tendrá un sistema de recuperación de energía de 200 kW.
Por último éste es aún un prototipo desarrollado en la planta matriz de la marca del león en Paris y será llevado por el director técnico OlivierJanosinnue, el cuál ya ha confirmado que llegará para LeMans del 2022.
