Hace un tiempo Racing Point anunció que ya no contaría con los servicios del piloto mexicano Checo Pérez para 2021, algo que fue muy duro para los aficionados del deporte motor, esto después de completar la mejor temporada de su carrera y quedar cuarto lugar en el mundial de pilotos, siete puestos arriba de su compañero de equipo Lance Stroll.
Todo apuntaba a que sería el fin de un ciclo, ya que el mexicano aún no lograba encontrar un equipo con el cual correr la temporada 2021, lo que significaría al menos 1 año fuera de la pista.
Sin embargo después de mucho lamentos surgió el rumor de que el equipo con sede en el Reino Unido, Red Bull estaría interesado en hacerse con los servicios de este gran piloto que en el 2020 concretó su primera victoria en la Fórmula 1.
Aún así pasó el tiempo y Red Bull Racing anunció la renovación de Max Verstappen, más no anunció la renovación de un segundo piloto y estando a la espera el día de hoy se ha hecho oficial tanto por las redes sociales del equipo como del piloto que Sergio Pérez será el segundo piloto de Red Bull Racing para el año 2021.
Esto es una oportunidad única, ya que Checo demostró la temporada pasada que con un coche que pelea por estar en mitad de tabla logró hasta un triunfo y Red Bull tiene uno de los monoplazas más fuertes después de Mercedes, por lo que Pérez tendrá la oportunidad de demostrar que puede ganar carreras y que puede estar a la altura de su nuevo compañero Max Verstappen.
Checo reconoce esta oportunidad con las siguientes palabras:

Esto es una noticia muy feliz para todos menos para unas pocas personas, este es Alex Albon, el cual la temporada pasada fue piloto de Red Bull Racing junto con Max y esta temporada se ha confirmado que se quedará en Red Bull como piloto reserva y de pruebas.
